SHOPPING LIST
  • Challah or Brioche bread

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • Pinch of nutmeg and salt

  • Splash of milk or cream

  • 3-4 cups crushed cornflakes

  • Cinnamon sugar to taste

Bananas foster:

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1 shot of rum and 99 bananas

  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 3 bananas sliced 1/3 cup walnuts


DIRECTIONS FOR French Toast Recipe PREPARATION:

  • Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat and set your oven to a low temperature to keep the French toast warm while making the Bananas Foster.

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 4 eggs, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, a pinch of nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until the ingredients are well combined.

  2. Add a splash of milk or cream to the mixture to thin it slightly.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS - DIPPING AND COATING
  1. Place 3-4 cups of crushed cornflakes in a shallow dish.

  2. Dip slices of Challah or Brioche bread into the egg and cream mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.

  3. Next, coat the dipped slices with the crushed cornflakes, pressing the flakes onto the bread to adhere.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS -COOKING
  1. Grease the preheated griddle or skillet with a little butter or cooking spray.

  2. Cook the coated bread slices on the griddle or skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  3. Keep the cooked French toast warm in the oven while you prepare the Bananas Foster.


COOKING INSTRUCTIONS -BANANA FOSTER


PREPARATION:

  • Be cautious when working with alcohol and open flames.

  1. In a separate skillet, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat.

  2. Stir in 1 cup of dark brown sugar until it dissolves.

  3. Add a shot of rum and 99 Bananas liqueur, 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Stir to combine.

  4. Once the mixture begins to bubble, add 3 sliced bananas and 1/3 cup of walnuts. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the bananas are heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.


SERVING
  1. Serve the crispy French toast slices with the warm Bananas Foster sauce drizzled over the top.

  2. Optionally, sprinkle cinnamon sugar to taste over the dish for extra flavor.
